LIFE begins a new chapter with Issue 1, Fall 2026, continuing its 90 year tradition of photographic storytelling. This cover edition features Andrew Jarrell, an Alaska commercial fisherman whose photographs document life on the Bering Sea.
Joining Jarrell on his ninth cod fishing expedition, the story captures the unpredictable conditions, dangers and rewards of working on an unforgiving stretch of ocean. His photographs offer a perspective from inside an industry that supplies our food, drawing attention to the people whose demanding work often goes unseen.
One of six covers for LIFE’s relaunch issue, this edition continues the magazine’s commitment to exploring lives and experiences far beyond our own.
